UPSC Notification 2024

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Civil Service Exam (CSE) 2024 or UPSC Notification 2024 PDF on upsc.gov.in or you can directly download it from the link given at the bottom of this page. The online registration begins on 14 February and the last date of registration is 5 March 2024. However, the dates for correction of the application form are 6 to 12 March 2024.

 

A total of 1056 vacancies are available spread across various services such as IAS, IPS, IFS, etc. The breakdown of vacancies will be available in the advertisement for All India Service and Central Service.

UPSC CSE 2024 Selection Process

  1. UPSC CSE Prelims Exam 2024: There will be an objective MCQ-based exam consisting of General Studies (Paper I) and CSAT (Paper II). It’s a qualifying stage, and your score doesn’t contribute to the final merit.
  2. UPSC CSE Main Examination 2024: A written descriptive exam testing knowledge, understanding, and analytical skills across nine papers.
  3. UPSC Interview 2024: Those who qualify for the exam will be called for the interview.

How to Apply for UPSC Application Form 2024

  • Go to the official website of the commission – upsconline.nic.in.
  • Click on the application link given on the ‘Latest Updates’
  • Register for the exam. If OTR is completed, log in using the valid credentials.
  • After login, click on the application form.
  • Fill out all the details.
  • Upload the relevant documents, if needed.
  • Pay the exam fee.
  • Apply and take the printout of the application form.

UPSC Prelims Syllabus 2024

Paper 1:

  • Current events
  • History and Indian National Movement.
  • Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
  • Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
  • Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
  • General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.

Paper 2:

  • Comprehension;
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability;
  • Decision-making and problem-solving;
  • General mental ability;
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. — Class X level).
